Terms of Service

1. Scope

These Terms govern the relationship between you and us regarding your use of the Service.

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Any additional rules or notices we post in the Service form part of these Terms.

2. Definitions

In these Terms, the following words have the meanings below.

• "User" or "you": anyone who uses the Service, including guest users and signed-in users
• "Guest user": a user who uses the Service without signing in
• "Signed-in user": a user who signs in to the Service with a Google account
• "Account": the information the Service keeps to identify a signed-in user
• "Content": the lessons, games, Dining Guide articles, images, text, certificate designs, and all other material provided in the Service

3. Accounts

You sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and must not let others use it.

Activity under your account is treated as your own. Except where caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, we are not responsible for losses arising from inadequate management of your Google account or its use by others.

You can delete your account and learning data at any time in Settings. You may also ask us to delete them. The procedure is described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Guest Use

Guest users can use part of the Service without signing in (currently the first course). Signing in gives access to all courses.

As a guest, your progress, streak records, the name shown on certificates, and unfinished lessons are stored only in your browser (localStorage). This data may be lost if you clear your browser data or switch to another device or browser, and we cannot restore it.

5. Fees

The Service is currently offered free of charge.

We may in the future charge for some or all of the Service, or add paid features. If we do, we will announce the fees and conditions in the Service in advance, and paid features will be available only to users who agree to them.

6. Prohibited Conduct

When using the Service, you must not:

• violate any applicable law or engage in conduct contrary to public order or good morals
• infringe the rights or interests of us, other users, or third parties
• place an excessive load on, or interfere with the operation of, the Service's servers or networks
• attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer the Service, or access or collect data in bulk by automated means
• copy, republish, redistribute, sell, or otherwise commercially exploit the Content without our permission
• forge or alter a certificate, or present one as reflecting learning you did not actually complete
• send false information, spam, or other people's personal information through the contact form or other channels
• engage in any other conduct we reasonably consider inappropriate

7. Rights to Content

Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Content belong to us or to third parties who hold the rights.

You may use the Content for your own personal learning. You may print and keep certificates as a record of your own learning.

You grant us a royalty-free permission to use (including copying, editing, storing, and sharing with service providers) what you send us through the contact form or similar channels, to the extent needed to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, respond to you, and investigate issues. You represent that you have the rights needed to send that material.

8. Disclaimer and Nature of the Content

The table manners and etiquette in the Content are general guidance. Customs differ by country, region, culture, venue, and occasion, and there is not always a single right answer. In real situations, please follow the rules of the place and the guidance of your hosts.

We make reasonable efforts, but do not guarantee that the Content is accurate, complete, up to date, or fit for any particular purpose. Certificates record learning within the Service and do not certify any official qualification or skill.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or special losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. If we are liable for ordinary negligence and that liability cannot be excluded by law, our liability is limited to actual, direct losses that would ordinarily arise. This does not limit liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes to and Suspension of the Service

We may change, add to, or remove parts of the Service (including the Content) without prior notice.

We may temporarily suspend all or part of the Service for maintenance, failures, outages of external services, natural disasters, or other unavoidable reasons. We may also end the Service after giving reasonable advance notice.

Our liability for losses resulting from a change, suspension, or end of the Service is governed by Article 8 and applicable law.

10. Restriction of Use

If you violate these Terms, or if we reasonably believe you may have done so, we may restrict all or part of your use of the Service, or suspend or delete your account, without prior notice.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may change these Terms when needed, including in response to changes in law or in the Service.

We will change these Terms only as permitted by applicable law, taking into account the need for the change, its fairness, and other relevant circumstances. We will announce the revised Terms and effective date in advance, and obtain individual consent where required by law.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Japan.

Any dispute between you and us relating to the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
